Rendering MapsForge maps

Postby jolly48roger » 22 Jan 2017, 09:15

I have created a MapsForge map of New Zealand and am using MOBAC to render it as raw (OSM Tracker) tiles. I am labelling the hunting areas but as I zoom in the names disappear and reappear. Also, the long names are being split across several lines - is there a way to control that behaviour?

This is the rule for the labels :

<rule e="node" k="man_made" v="hunt_area">
<caption priority="80" k="name" display="always" font-style="bold" font-size="28" fill="#c000c0" stroke="#ffffff" stroke-width="2.0" />
</rule>

Well known issue, as the mapsforge library used in MOBAC does not (yet) support separate Label Layer. I had in depth discussions with the mapsforge DEV team, but it is not on their priority list.

A related problem is long placenames being split onto two or more lines - is there a way to control this?

You would need to make chnages to the mapsforge library that is used by MOBAC.
I feel the same pain, but rather live with the issue than digging into and compiling mapsforge myself.
